A tiny village in the South East of Ireland called Kilmore Quay is believed to have sold the winning €66 million Euromillions ticket last week.
The Irish Mirror Newspaper reported on Sunday morning that the fishing village, which has a population of just 417, sold one of the two winning tickets of Saturday’s €132,378,316 jackpot. It is believed the other winning ticket was sold in France.
The lucky player has yet to claim the money.
Residents told of their shock on hearing the news. One local, Greg Kelly, told of his shock when he heard that the winning ticket was bought in the little village. “I do the Lotto and Euromillions every week. So when I heard it had been sold here, I nearly had a heart attack.
“I was straight up to Brady’s [the local convenience store] to see if I had the numbers. But I only got one number out of two lines.
“It has been the talk of the pub down here. There will be a few pints going around if it is someone local. If it was me who’d won I’d be getting on a plane to somewhere sunny and not freezing down here, that’s for sure.”
The winning numbers were 1, 5, 23, 29 and 32 and the two Lucky Stars numbers were 1 and 7.
